So yesterday we took a journey to the dentist. Michael kept talking about it all
morning. So off we went to his Dr. Red with Wildey Pediatric Dentistry. They are awesome btw!!!! I definitely do not remember the dentist office being so cool when I was a kid. Now they have fun waiting rooms, and the rooms usually have toys and books (except for now cause, ya know, coronaviru), and there is a TV playing movies over the chair so the kids can lay down and watch it while the staff works. They are all super friendly. I was a little nervous though. See Michael has extremely deep grooves in his back molars that make it easy for food to get trapped. My hubby and I try to be extremely diligent, but I still worry I will miss something and then they will get a cavity. It is a goal of mine to avoid cavities for their entire childhood. I feel that they are largely preventable since I am I control of the brush and what they eat and drink. Now that may be way too high of a goal, but I want to try; at least while they are too little to brush by themselves.
So anyway, six months when we were there they were concerned about some spots in his back molar. The x-ray looked good and the dentist it could be a cavity or just the way it looks because of those deep grooves so keep an eye on it and brush real good. Yesterday was the moment of truth.
The hygienist was cleaning his teeth, and there were more spots!!!!! NO!!!!!!!! She suggested getting a few x-rays to be sure. So we did. Of course Michael was an absolute champ for them. So the dentist looks at the x-rays, and then comes to inspect the teeth....moment of truth.
”Y’all are doing a good job! Keep up the good work!” What a relief!!! He assured me no cavities and the X-rays were great! He says the spots could be staining from food where that portion of enamel is a little weaker than the rest. I can live with that!
Now it doesn’t end there. I have made it sort of a tradition once the boys are older that if they can do a good job at an appointment, then they get to go to the store and pick a special toy. Nothing fancy, but something new they get to pick. It helps give them something to look forward to after all that, especially if we go to the pedi and they get shots. So we got him a new toy car with a little launcher. He played with it for a long while once we got home. Anyone else have any fun dentist stories?? Share them down below!
